Oops, American did it to us again…

Del Rio, TX – For the third time, American Airlines has pushed back the date date when they will restart airline service in Del Rio.

On  November 3, 2020, American Airlines notified the City of Del Rio the  suspension of service announced until December 1, 2020 has been extended to  January 5, 2021.

At this time, bookings are unavailable out of DRT International Airport until January 5.  Flights after January 5 are currently available for booking.

In August, American Airlines announced the suspension of service in 14 cities due to  the COVID-19 pandemic until November 3. In October, the airline then notified the  City of Del Rio of an additional suspension until December 1, 2020.

“No reason has been given at this time. Low ridership nationwide due to the COVID 19 restrictions is the major driver of this extended suspension,” stated Juan Carlos  Onofre, Airport Manager.

The City of Del Rio owns and manages the Del Rio International Airport. The Airport  has been a Part 139 Certified Federal Aviation Airport since February 2005. For more  information about the Del Rio International Airport, please contact 830-774-8610 or  email jonofre@cityofdelrio.com.

The majority of the story came from a City of Del Rio press release.
