City of Del Rio Police Department press release
On May 3rd, 2023 at approximately 12:45 a.m. a Del Rio Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop for a speeding violation. The violator’s vehicle came to a stop at the 100 block of Veteran’s Blvd. near the intersection of Gibbs and Veterans Blvd.
Upon making contact with the driver, the officer was able to smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the interior of the vehicle. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was asked to exit his truck. The driver performed three Standardized Field Sobriety tests. Due to the officer’s observations, the driver identified as Bruno Jose Rafael Lozano, 40 years of age, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
The officer requested a sample of Lozano’s breath or blood, but Lozano refused to provide any samples. Lozano was transported to the police station for booking process.
The officer obtained a blood search warrant for the extraction of the blood sample. Lozano was transported to Val Verde Regional Medical Center where the blood sample was collected. Such sample was submitted as evidence. Lozano was then transported to GEO Correctional Facility, pending Magistration process.
