American Airlines to suspend Del Rio service Oct. 7

Del Rio, TEXAS — American Airlines announced to today it plans to suspend service to Del Rio Oct. 7, according to a company press release.

The company is pointing to the expiration of the Coronavirus Air, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES). 

The suspension will affect service to Del Rio, Texas; Dubuque, Iowa; Florence, S.C.; Greenville, N.C.; Huntington, W.Va.; Joplin, Mo.; Kalamazoo/Battle Creek, Mich.; Lake Charles, La.; New Haven, Conn.; New Windsor, N.Y.; Roswell, N.M.; Sioux City, Iowa; Springfield, Ill.; Stillwater, Okla.; and Williamsport, Pa.

“Our community is going to do  everything possible to get this decision changed,” said Blanca Larson, Del Rio Chamber of Commerce executive director. “We all worked long and hard to get airline service here and we are going to do everything possible to keep it.”

Presently, they fly one mid day flight in from Dallas Fort Worth Airport and back.
