The next Brewster County Sheriff’s Auction should be interesting, may have an RV to offer to bidders as the department and Border Patrol teamed up to stop the smuggling of 22 illegal aliens.
According to the Sheriff’s Department press release, minus 8 cutesy hashtags, “Tuesday afternoon, a joint operation between Brewster County Deputies and US Border Patrol Agents led to a traffic stop on a recreational vehicle towing an Audi passenger car. Suspicious circumstances led Sheriff Dodson to call for Brewster County K9 Latek to conduct an “open air sniff” of the vehicles.
Latek alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming out of the vehicle, and deputies began searching. During the search, 22 illegal aliens were discovered concealed in the RV. The suspects were from Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico.
The driver and passenger, both US citizens, were arrested, and face smuggling charges. The aliens will be processed and deported. This case is under investigation by Brewster County, US Border Patrol, and Homeland Security Investigations.
