Candidate profile — Jesus Emilio Galindo

Question 1: What in your experience, personal and professional, qualifies to serve the community in this position?

“Public service has always been at the forefront of the work I have contributed while a part of this community. I have been privileged to serve this community for the last 13 years in a professional capacity as a member of the Del Rio Police Department and have always had the mindset of Public First.

“This experience has allowed me to serve others respectfully and honestly. It has also allowed me to approach discussions and issues with an objective approach to be able to make the best decision on issues that impact our district and community.

“The last four years of service to the community as a member of the SFDR-CISD Board of Trustees has been a humbling experience that I deeply value and would like an opportunity to continue and contribute as best as I can. It has been a privilege to work with our District staff and our Board of Trustees for the last four years, and I have worked to remain visible and available to our constituents at all times. However, there is work that must continue to be done, and I ask for the opportunity to continue serving our community in this capacity.”

Question 2: What do you believe is the most important work of the SFDR-CISD Board of Trustees over the next few years, and how will you contribute to making that happen?

“There are a few things that must be continued in the next few years to continue progression in our local school district. There needs to be a continued focus on improving student experience and student outcome. The district has made great strides in continuing to evolve the CTE program, Early College High School, Dual Credit, New Tech and STEM programs among others, in all areas of the district. Paired with a traditional learning method, these programs have been great additions as it has prepared individuals as they progress through their educational journey to experience different pathways towards their life goals. But we must remain focused on student growth in ALL areas, and I will continue to work along with fellow trustees and district staff to remain focused on improved student outcomes for students at SFDR-CISD.

“Next, is to continue to work on the retention of teachers and staff. Whether it’s through pay increases to remain competitive and/or continued staff progression, it is important to take care of the staff that are currently employed by SFDR-CISD.

“There is also a need to have continued emphasis on the ongoing progress of ensuring safer schools in our community. This is a continued work in progress as there have been positive steps implemented in the last four years to maintain safety and security in all schools. However, we must continue to remain vigilant and continue working to commit resources to security measures in our district that continue to protect our students and staff.”
