Candidate Questions: Generosa “Janie” Ramon/Democrat/County Commissioner Pct. 4

Question #1 What are your qualifications to serve in the office you are seeking?

Public service means putting others first. Whether working for Texas Rural Legal Aid, which provided legal assistance to underprivileged and underserved communities or serving in local groups, clubs and organizations, I have always put others first. Honesty and integrity have allowed me to lead the Val Verde County Clerk’s office for sixteen years. My experience and professionalism have helped me forge strong working relationships with officials from both political parties, past and present. These characteristics are essential to serving as a County Commissioner.

Question #2 What is your vision for this office for the next four years?

I will bring experience, honesty and integrity to the Office of County Commissioner. I plan to continue engaging with community members, listening to their concerns and ideas for improving Precinct 4. I will use all available resources to continue providing food to those in our community. This help is essential, and we must do all we can to ensure its continuation. I also plan to explore alternatives for safe access to the Cienegas and Old Foster Road areas. Regularly scheduled road maintenance, trash pickups and additional streetlights are important for this area. Finally, I plan to establish the Community Center as a hub for organizations that provide the resources needed to serve our community.
