Ortiz, the child of Lisa and Ramiro Ortiz, was recently selected as the CTE Student of the Year for the 2020-21 school year.

Ortiz was a member of the Del Rio High School Class of 2021 and graduated ranked 10th out of 540 students.

“Annalissa was a part of the Health Science program and completed not one, but two practicum level courses: Extended Practicum of Health Science EMT and Practicum in Health Science Phlebotomy/EKG,” a release from the school district stated. “In addition to successfully completing her practicum level courses, she also earned multiple certifications: National Healthcareer Association- EKG Certified, National Healthcareer Association- Phlebotomy Certified, National Registry of EMT- Emergency Medical Technician- Basic, American Heart Association- Basic Life Support Certified.”

The school district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department offers 18 programs of study. Every year, each capstone course teacher selects one student that best represents their CTE pathway. “CTE administration would like to congratulate Annalissa as she represents the best of CTE,” the release also stated.
