The Del Rio High School Athletics Department needs the community’s help.
With the return of the Community Pep Rally Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Walter Levermann Ram Stadium, the athletics department is organizing a clothing drive to help aid families in need within Del Rio.
According to head athletic trainer Brad “Doc” Dixon, members of the Del Rio High School cheerleaders will be located near a truck parked at the entrance of the stadium and will collect clothes at that spot.
“Please donate your unneeded clothing, shoes and outerwear to support our community members who are in need,” a release provided by Dixon said.
The clothes donated will be sorted and distributed on a Saturday within the next two weeks, the release also explained.
The Community Pep Rally, which will feature players and coaches from Del Rio High School’s fall sports programs as well as performances from various student groups, is free of charge to attend.
Del Rio Rams head football coach Rod Taylor said this is something the football team has taken part in before and said he looks forward to being a part of this activity again this year.
