Del Rioans are being asked to turn in their old tires during a free recycling event this weekend.

Tires may be dropped off in two locations, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 27.

Del Rioans can bring their old tires to the parking lot at the Bill Jewell Softball Field at Fox Drive and Kings Way or to the parking area between the Joe Ramos Youth/Elderly Center and the United Medical Center’s San Felipe Clinic on De La Rosa Street.

Del Rioans who drop off tires must bring an active utility bill.

Event organizers said commercial tire shops are not eligible to drop off tires, and no tires with rims will be accepted.

Senior citizens who are unable to take their tires to a drop off point are asked to call the city’s neighborhood services division at (830) 774-7250 and schedule a pickup for Friday, March 26.

Those who call for pickup must be at least 65 years of age or older and must provide identification and an active utility bill.
