The Sixth Annual Wine and Cheese Scholarship Fundraiser will be held Friday, March 27, at 6 p.m. at the Enchanted Jardin Event Center, 4934 U.S. Highway 90.

The event is organized by the International Good Neighbor Council of Del Rio. Andrew Scarbo, the council’s president, said the goal of the evening is to raise money for scholarships through the Amistad Community Scholarship Program.

“I think it is important that the readers know that this money goes entirely to scholarships. It doesn’t go to fund anything else. And so the more money we raise at this event, obviously, the more scholarships we can give back to the community,” Scarbo said.

General admission is $30, and VIP tables are sold out. Tickets can be purchased from any IGNC member or at the door.

The event will feature two main components: a dining experience and a live auction showcasing artwork created by Del Rio High School students during the 2025 Fiesta de Amistad celebrations. Proceeds from the auction will also go toward scholarships.

Each year, the fundraiser features a unique theme. This year’s event will highlight a “Taste of Italy,” with the venue designed to resemble an Italian garden, complete with fountains and water displays. Food sampling stations will be located outdoors, while wine tastings will take place indoors.

All wines featured at the event will be imported from Italy. Scarbo said guests can expect six selections, including two red wines, two white wines, a champagne and a sparkling wine. The wines have been donated by SoJo Cellar, which has supported the event for the past four years.

In addition to the wine, guests will be served imported cured meats and cheeses, also provided by SoJo Cellar. Because the event falls during Lent, meat-free options will be available.

A brick-oven pizza station will also be featured, with pizza prepared on-site by a San Antonio-based caterer.

Santa Maria will provide specialty cheeses, and live music will be performed indoors by Calle 4, featuring Juan “The Sax Man” Nanez.
