Del Rio’s two H-E-B locations will have Kid’s Day events Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate the annual Dia Del Niño (Kid’s Day).

HEB staff invites families and their children to take part in fun activities at their stores at 200 Veterans Blvd. and 500 Pecan St., with both areas providing games and treats.

Walker Sagebiel, operations manager for H-E-B on Veterans, said the event is tailored for their “little buddies” while also focused on celebrating traditional Hispanic heritage.

“Dia Del Niño is on April 30th, but we wanted to get ahead of it and have something at the store for that heritage. It is going to be in line with what we do at other Kid’s Day events, but this one’s theme is going to be more focused on the traditional heritage of Hispanics,” Sagebiel said.

Sagebiel mentioned this early-summer event is brand new to the border-region H-E-B locations. He also said this event is a way to have more events for children to enjoy and to celebrate the different heritages and communities that help support the stores.

games), balero cup games, temporary tattoo booths and both coloring and story-time activities. The deli, bakery and produce departments will include quesadillas, Mexican wedding cookies, flan, conchas and fruit bowls.

Vendors attending the H-E-B on Veterans include Sharky’s, Manu Elotes, the Del Rio High

School’s Robotic Team and Heritage Academy. Sagebiel said the first 50 children at the event will get a ticket for a free shaved ice from Sharky’s or a cup of corn from Manu Elotes.

Paula Carrasco, top store leader at H-E-B on Pecan Street, said their facility will also include

games and prizes at their location. She said they will also have Mexican-themed food provided

by their departments.
