With blood supplies critically low, Del Rio will host two blood drives in August to help replenish vital reserves.

“Currently we are at less than a day’s worth of O blood and about two days’ worth of A and B blood on the shelves. We typically do not see a rise in blood until about September when the high schools are fully back in session,” said Kelli Baker, South Texas Blood and Tissue account manager.

Community members are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and donate at two convenient upcoming locations.

The first drive will be held Monday, August 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mr. Gatti’s Pizza, 103 Garner Dr. Donors will receive a $10 Ram Card, a $20 e-gift card from South Texas Blood and Tissue and a Texas Roadhouse appetizer voucher while supplies last. The second drive is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, 1915 Veterans Blvd. Donors will receive a $20 e-gift card and a Texas Roadhouse appetizer voucher while supplies last. Organizers emphasize the urgent need for donations to meet ongoing medical and emergency needs in the region. All eligible donors are encouraged to participate and help save lives.
