Special to the 830 Times

The First Friday Art Walk and artists reception for plein air and studio artists Chuck and Barbara Mauldin of Fredericksburg will be held Nov. 3, at Lee-Bunch Studio Gallery, 100 W. Greenwood, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

There will be a premiere showing of some of Chuck’s and Barbara’s newest oil paintings. That is not to say that the rest of the work the Mauldins choose to exhibit for this event has been seen before by our Del Rio art lovers. The fine art they will be sharing with Lee-Bunch Studio Gallery may have been shown at other galleries, museums or in various prestigious and nationally known fine art shows across the US during this year.

Most of you don’t need an introduction to Chuck and Barbara or their outstanding art executed in oil, being that the Mauldins are permanent exhibitors at Lee-Bunch Studio Gallery, so some of their work is always available here for always viewing or purchase. However, for those of you that have not had the opportunity to meet the Mauldins, let me give you a quick overview of their history.

Both Chuck and Barbara are native Texans. Chuck grew up in his father’s cattle ranching business around Dallas and Barbara in her father’s farming industry in Houston. They met at the University of Texas in Austin where Chuck was completing his chemistry degrees and Barbara was studying on her biology degree.  Upon graduating and their marriage, they moved to Louisiana where Chuck did research for ExxonMobil Process Research Labs in Baton Rouge and presently holds 55 U.S. patents in the field of catalysis!  Barbara promptly began raising their three children while pursuing a career in art, eventually teaching art for 12 years at Baton Rouge Lutheran School.  After 28 years in Baton Rouge and their children now grown, Chuck and Barbara moved back to Texas in 2005, to Fredericksburg to pursue their passion for art on a full-time basis. The Mauldins have continued to hone their painting skills and take workshops from some of the most prestigious and famous artist in the U.S. Needless to say both Chuck’s and Barbara’s interest in art have always been a part of the fabric of their lives since their childhood.

Lee-Bunch Studio Gallery will be furnishing beverages and hors d’oeuvres during the art walk and artist reception hours from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and exhibit daily the stunning artwork of local, area and regional, nationally renowned Texas artists.

The daily hours for Lee-Bunch Studio Gallery are Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. to around 6:30 or 7 p.m. and by appointment only on Saturday, unless Bunch is getting in some extra painting hours for herself on that particular day. Lee-Bunch Studio also provides custom matting and framing for the art of your home, office, or gifts.
