The 830 Times
One of Del Rio’s most enjoyed traditions returns tonight under the beautiful Texas night sky.
Noches Musicales, a celebration of live music, kicks of its annual summer run tonight with a performance by Bandango De Rick Vasquez. The show begins at 8:30 p.m. at historic Brown Plaza in South Del Rio and continues until 11 p.m.
From San Antonio, Bandango de Rick Vasquez was formed in 1977 by Vasquez as a 10-piece performance band. Described as a “Tejano orchestra,” the group is known for its versatile sound, performing everything from Tejano classics to Top 40, country, salsa and more.
This is the 12th summer for Noches Musicales, which was created under the direction of the Casa de la Cultura and funded through a variety of grants and donations from the Texas Commission on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, Art Works, the United Way of Val Verde county, Southern Powered, Val Verde County, the City of Del Rio and Friends of the Casa.
This is a free event. The only caveat is attendees should bring their own chairs should they want to take a seat and enjoy the show. Beverages are also welcome, but please clean up your area before you leave.
Tonight’s performance is the first of 10 consecutive Friday night shows at Brown Plaza. The final evening for Noches Musicales will be Aug. 5 with the Hometown Boys performing.
