Del Rio is packed with events this weekend, from the Fiesta of Flight airshow and citywide cleanup to fundraisers, performances and family-friendly activities. Here’s a look at what’s happening across the community.

Friday, March 27

The International Good Neighbor Council will host its sixth annual Wine and Cheese Scholarship Fundraiser at the Enchanted Event Center, 4934 U.S. Highway 90, at 6 p.m.

Border Animal Mission and Helping Paws Across Borders will host a free spay/neuter clinic from March 27 through March 31 at the Chihuahua Center, 1401 Las Vacas St.

Saturday, March 28

The Third Annual Border Classic Team Roping and Cook Off will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Val Verde County Fairgrounds, 300 Spring St.

The Upstagers will present “The Importance of Being Earnest” at 7:30 p.m. at the Red Oak Ballroom inside the Del Rio Civic Center, 1915 Veterans Blvd. Performances will continue April 3–4.

The Del Rio Archery Association will host a 3D shoot at 8:30 a.m.

The City of Del Rio will hold its spring citywide cleanup from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Joe Ramos Center, 1105 W. De La Rosa St.

Seniors 60 and older can participate in Coffee and Paint from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Marcos Mares Art Studio, 205 E. Ogden St.

The Fiesta of Flight airshow will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Laughlin Air Force Base, with entry through the North Gate off U.S. Highway 90.

A plant swap and Lotería de Plantas will take place at 9:30 a.m. at Casa de la Cultura, 302 Cantu St.

A Spring Fair and Easter Egg Hunt will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1701 Kings Way, with the egg hunt beginning at 2 p.m.

A Paint and Sip event will be held at 6 p.m. at Val Verde County Winery, 100 Qualia Dr.

Draculina’s Nerdvana will host a Gundam Trading Card Game event at 6 p.m.

Sunday, March 29

Palm Sunday will be observed, and residents are encouraged to check with their local churches for service times.

A five-mile hike will take place at the Devils River State Natural Area (Del Norte Unit).

The Third Bi-Monthly Battle of the Businesses Bowling Tournament will begin at 5 p.m. at Pla Mor Del Rio, 1201 N. Bedell Ave.

Tuesday, March 31

The Del Rio Council for the Arts will host Mexican folklórico classes for adults 55 and older from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Firehouse, 120 E. Garfield St. Classes will continue through May 12.

Looking ahead

The “Con Tanto Amor” Selena exhibit will open April 3 at the Del Rio Council for the Arts.

The Falcon Art Gallery will celebrate its 28th anniversary April 3–4 at 301 E. Garfield St.

Downtown galleries will participate in First Friday ArtWalk on April 3.

An Easter Mini Cake Class will be held April 4 at Five Points Market.

Cajun Fest will also take place April 4 at the Whitehead Memorial Museum.

Additional upcoming events include the Chamber Member Luncheon (April 8), Business After Hours (April 23) and George Paul Memorial Xtreme Bullriding (April 24–25).
