The Del Rio Chamber of Commerce has taken point over the last 24 months doing everything possible to help our community prepare for the upcoming eclipse. Here is a list of events they provided that will be taking place in Del Rio.
There is a real possibility some were missed, but this is a pretty complete list. If there was an event missed, add it in the Facebook comments and we’ll work to get it on here.
If you’re a hard-core journalist, I admit up front, there are some shortcomings. It’s not in Associated Press nor always in journalistic style but the bottom line is, there’s lots of info here. I pray it serves our community well over the next few days.

Now and Then Sculpture Installation Project by Artist Henry Dean
Now and then celebrates the April 8th, 2024, total eclipse of the Sun. It features a series of six (6) installations, running from Texas to Maine by Artist Henry Dean
The 6th location is in Del Rio, TX and to be installed March 23rd – April 3rd, 2024.
- Sculpture 1 will be created outdoors in the garden, in view of the Barrio San Felipe Plaza.
- A collaboration with the Casa has been organized. Ceramic tiles themed on the eclipse, Cosmos, and Nature, will be designed/ produced by students for a bench to be installed in the garden.
- In addition, some tiles will be incorporated into the sculpture design itself.
