Question 1: What in your experience, personal or professional, qualifies you for the position of Councilperson At-Large, Place C?
“My professional experience has prepared me well to serve Place C at-Large on Del Rio City Council. I have owned and operated Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home for 10 years, managing a team of 10 employees, overseeing budgets, operations, and compassionate customer
service. I hold an Associate of Applied Science from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, served as Class President of Chi Gamma, received the Bill Pierce Award for service above self, and am a member of the Pi Sigma Eta scholastic fraternity.
“I bring leadership experience from civic and professional organizations — Past President of the El Paso Funeral Directors Association, member of Rotary, founder of Latinos for a Better Del Rio, President of the Del Rio Babe Ruth Baseball League, and a member of the Del Rio Baseball Boosters. I also attended Southwest Texas Junior College and Sul Ross State University in Del Rio.
“Together, these roles demonstrate my experience managing people and budgets, building community partnerships, advocating for local needs, and leading volunteer organizations — skills I will use to strengthen Del Rio’s economy, protect community resources, and unite residents across the city.”
Question 2: What is your vision for this position for the next four years?
“My vision for Place C At-Large over the next four years is to build a stronger, more prosperous, and more united Del Rio by focusing on economic growth, responsible stewardship of city services, and community opportunity.
“- Economy & jobs: Attract new businesses and support small-business growth through targeted incentives, workforce training partnerships, and streamlined permitting so Del Rio residents have better local job opportunities and rising household incomes.
“- Water affordability & infrastructure: Rigorously monitor any proposed water rate increases, demand transparency from utilities, and pursue cost-saving infrastructure upgrades and grant funding so water remains affordable while system reliability improves.
“- Fiscal responsibility & transparency: Ensure city spending is prudent and transparent — prioritize projects that deliver measurable community benefit, maintain reserves, and routinely report progress to residents.
“- Public services & quality of life: Strengthen public safety, maintain and expand parks and recreation, and support youth programs (including local sports and arts) that keep families engaged and neighborhoods vibrant.
“- Community unity & access: Create regular “Coffee & Chat” town halls, mobile office hours, and bilingual outreach so every neighborhood is heard, and launch partnership initiatives with schools, nonprofits, and business leaders to uplift underserved areas.
“- Long-term planning: Develop a clear 4-year roadmap with measurable goals for economic development, infrastructure, and community programs — and publish quarterly updates so voters can track results.
“I will use my experience as a small-business owner and community leader to bring practical solutions, fiscal discipline, and open communication to City Council so Del Rio grows stronger and more united for everyone.”
