This vehicle was involved in a hit and run Jan. 23, 2026. Officers were dispatched at approximately 1:16 p.m. to the 100 block of Meandering Way in reference to a hit-and-run crash.

A short time later, officers learned that both vehicles involved had left the scene and were traveling south toward Buena Vista Park. One of the vehicles was described as a brown Ford pickup truck with a yellow dolly in the bed.

While searching the area, officers were notified of a second crash at the 100 block of Maude Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered the vehicle involved was the same brown Ford pickup from the earlier hit-and-run. The vehicle was unoccupied and had struck a fence, causing an estimated $6,000 in damage.

A witness reported seeing a Black male wearing a blue shirt flee the scene on foot and observed him throwing items into the backyard of a nearby residence. Officers recovered those items, which were identified as the vehicle registration for the Ford pickup.

During a vehicle inventory, officers also located medical documents belonging to a male identified as Joseph Alexander Bly.

An assisting officer later located a man matching the suspect’s description hiding behind a shed in the backyard of a nearby residence. The subject was detained without incident and identified himself as Joseph Bly.

Further investigation revealed the other party involved in the incident resided in the 100 block of Meandering Way. The victim reported that a yellow dolly had been stolen from his home and said he pursued the suspect’s vehicle in an attempt to get the driver to stop.

Officers also discovered a blue air compressor inside Bly’s vehicle that had been taken from the victim’s residence without consent.

Joseph Alexander Bly, 26, was arrested and charged with:

  • Duty on Striking Fixture/Highway Landscape (≥ $200)

  • Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair

  • Burglary of Habitation
