SPORTS — Del Rio fans get new option to watch playoff game

By Brian Argabright

Del Rio Rams football fans will have another option to watch Friday’s Bi-District playoff game from their favorite viewing place.

Texas Sports Production, a company based out of Helotes, will be live streaming Friday’s first round playoff game between the Rams and San Antonio Brennan Bears. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Dub Farris Athletic Complex in San Antonio.

According to Tanner Carson, a play-by-play broadcaster for Texas Sports Production, the video feed will go live about 10 minutes before kickoff with a pre-game show. There is no fee or subscription required to view the stream.

The stream will be aired at https://www.texassportsproductions.com/calendar/live-video-streams/  Fans can click on the link featuring Del Rio and Brennan and it will take them to the game.

“It’s a pretty legit setup,” Carlson said. “We have instant replay and we’ve got some advertisements from the local area here. We also have some graphics regarding the game, like down and distance. We’ll keep viewers up to date as to what’s happening. It’s a little more polished than just sort of showing up and turning on your set-up.”

The Rams have been covered throughout this season by several local radio stations including KWMC, KTDR and KDLK. They’ve provided feeds through Facebook, YouTube and on the radio.

Although Texas Sports Production focuses on San Antonio-based teams, he said this year’s demand for coverage due to COVID-19 restrictions limiting the number of fans that could attend in person has considerably increased. Carlson said this will be the first time he’s seen either Del Rio or Brennan play.

“We have multiple camera teams and cover multiple games every weekend at all kinds of classes,” Carlson said. “If your team is playing in our area, we can get something. It’s also beneficial especially come playoff time. You may or may not know who you play against in the next round, but we have a broadcast of their game and you can check it out on the website.”

Carlson said he understands that many towns have their own broadcast crews who have been following their teams all season, but this is just another outlet for fans that can’t make it out to the game in person.

“All of this is free. There is no membership fee or form you have to fill out. You just get online, click on the link to watch the game and it comes up, ready to go,” Carlson said. “Making it free to the public is one of the courtesies we provide. We don’t like signing up for services and we don’t think you should have to, either.”
