The annual Christmas Night Light Parade will take place on Friday, Dec. 1 at 6:00 p.m. on the South side of Ogden Street.

The parade follows its annual trek down Main Street, from Ogden Street to Nicholson Drive.

This year’s parade is called “The Land of the Marching Toys.” Participants and floats will be dressing up as toys or have toy-inspired costumes.

“We want everyone to be in place for the parade no later than 5:30 p.m. because it does get congested with traffic,” said Esme Meza, Community Services Director.

Organizations and groups have until Wednesday, Nov. 29, to sign up for the parade. Participants can sign up through the City of Del Rio’s Facebook page or call the Community Services department 830-282-2818. Meza said anybody can be a part of the parade, whether as an organization or family.

Trophies will be given to first, second and third places for the best floats. More prizes will be given to winners for “most-spirited” and other Christmas-related categories.

After the parade is over, people can attend the lighting of the Christmas tree on Greenwood Park. Meza said there will be vendors and food trucks at the park for the post-parade event.
