Jerry Duane Bass, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2020. He was born on December 30, 1945 along with his twin brother Larry in Childress, Texas to Hubert Lamar Bass and Letha Alzata Potts.
Jerry attended and graduated from Kermit High School in Kermit, Texas in 1964. He joined the U.S. Navy March 23, 1966 and served as a Medical Assistant/Hospital Corpsman on the USS New Jersey (BB62) until March 24, 1969. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the VGM (D) medal.
Jerry worked in the oil and gas industry most of his life for Northern, HNG, Transwestern, Enron, Highland Gas Co., UPR, Duke Energy and finally retiring from DCP as a gas measurement supervisor.
Jerry loved people, ice cream, and R&R Reserve. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, karaoke, western swing music, and telling jokes and stories of days gone by with friends. He never met a stranger and once he met you, you were his friend for life. He loved his family, friends, and life to the fullest. He had been battling Parkinson’s Disease since the early 80s, but he never let that get him down. He was the most positive person that you could meet.
The joys of his life were his wife, kids and grandkids and he loved spending time with all of them. He never failed to share his words of wisdom on life with all of them. He never talked to his loved ones without telling them that he loved them.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Hubert Lamar Bass and Letha Alzata Potts Bass Sisco, and his stepmother who raised him from infancy, Frances Inez Barnett. His sister, Wanda Jane Owens, and his brother, James Alvin Bass.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Martha Mitchell Bass of 10 years.

Celebration of Life to be held at Lorina’s Cantina Patio and Backyard on Lake Amistad, 9087 W US Highway 90, Del Rio, Texas on Sunday January 3, 2021 from 2-5 PM which will be a come and go celebration.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made on Jerry’s behalf to West Texas Boys Ranch, Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
