Cisco San MIguel died at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23.
This miniature warrior, who was born with Muscular Dystrophy and was supposed to never live beyond 14 years old, lived to be almost 21 years old.
Cisco’s Dad, Oscar, shared this post to Facebook at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
“It is with heartache that we deliver the news that today at 12:30 am Cisco went to visit his grandpa. We are grateful for the almost 21 years that God trusted us with one of his own. Please pray for his eternal peace and strength for us at this most difficult time,” Oscar wrote.
San Miguel’s impact was evidenced that in less than 8 hours, more than 1,000 people commented, another 150 shared the post and many more created their own posts, many of them calling themselves “Cisco’s Soldiers”.
Cisco’s family and friends went all in on trying to find a cure for Muscular Dystrophy. On Labor Day, Del Rio’s firefighters would be out collecting money for the fight. Cisco’s family started a 5-kilometer race and cook-off, with all proceeds going to the fight against Muscular Dystrophy.

While young San MIguel squeezed a very full life into his 20 plus years, his family worked hard to give him as normal of a life as possible. He managed to roll across the stage as part of the high school graduation.
“I had the privilege to teach Cisco his freshman year. He rarely spoke, but his eyes sparkled with understanding. By October or November his health began to decline and he started with the homebound schooling. I was so proud of him & his familia on his graduation night,” wrote Déborah Hernández-Salinas on his father’s facebook page.
Cisco was survived by his immediate family members, father Oscar, mother Sandra and sister Alanis.
