The following press release was provided by the Del Rio Police Department.
On July 5, 2026, at 12:17 a.m., Del Rio Police Department officers responded to the 1000 block of Taini Avenue near W. Gutierrez Street after receiving a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, police saw two males sitting under the porch of a residence. The males were wearing dark clothing and avoided eye contact with officers.
Police searched the area and contacted several witnesses who reported hearing loud blasts they believed were gunshots, not fireworks. Witnesses told police someone had discharged a firearm in the area, placing nearby residents in fear.
A witness pointed officers toward the two males, stating the loud blasts came from their direction.
