Four persons have filed for open seats on the San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District (SFDRCISD) Board of Trustees.
Filing for four open positions on the SFDRCISD Board began at 8 a.m. Wednesday and will continue until 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13.
The open positions on the board and the board members currently holding them are as follows: Place I, currently held by Jesus Emilio Galindo; Place III, currently held by Linda Guanajuato-Webb; Place IV, currently held by Raymond P. Meza; and Place V, currently held by Rebekah Luna Chavez.
Anyone wishing to see who has filed for the board of trustees positions may do so on the school district’s website using the following link: https://www.sfdr-cisd.org/board-of-trustees/school-board-election-2026/.
According to information posted on the school district’s website, three of the four current office holders have filed applications for places on the ballot as of Friday afternoon.
Galindo, Guanajuato-Webb and Chavez have all filed applications indicating they will seek re-election to the seats they currently hold.
One newcomer has also filed. Bryan Clay Weston has filed an application indicating he will seek the Place IV seat currently held by Meza.
Galindo is currently employed as an officer with the Del Rio Police Department. Guanajuato-Webb and Chavez are both retired, and Weston is self-employed, according to their applications.
The school board election will be held Saturday, May 2.
According to a press release about the board elections issued by the SFDR-CISD, “Persons interested in becoming a candidate for the SFDRCISD School Board may obtain an application packet in the Chief Administrative Officer’s office in the SFDRCISD Student Performance and Administration Building, located at 315 Griner St. The candidate’s packet contains instructions, an application and state forms required for filing. Applications must be submitted to the district’s Elections Officer, Mrs. Sandra T. Hernandez, by the required deadline (5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13).”
