NEWS — 7 a.m. Sunday morning update

From staff reports

Updated at 11:08 a.m.

Publisher’s Note: We are working on keeping a comprehensive list of all cancellations and impacts. A bridge closure (4 in Del Rio) isn’t a closure but there is an impact). However, as much as we want it to be comprehensive, we know it’s not. Before you go to a planned event, call ahead and ensure there have been no impacts or closures.

Found out today our winter storm is named Fern. It seems like Saturday and Sunday morning have been quiet, probably due to the fact people just wanted to stay in and warm. According to AEP, there are 76 homes out of power in Val Verde County. We are being told of outages on Eagle Pass Hill, but from what we see on AEP’s website, it’s not reflected there.

Temps are around 24 degrees, according to weather sites.

According to DriveTexas.org, there are five major accidents in the state, lots of cold stuff but very calm in our region. (See above picture)

90 from Lake Amistad to Comstock

Have recently had several messages from law enforcement officers who are asking we do a quick post advising that Hwy 90 between Lake Amistad and Comstock has patches of ice. It’s not going to be closed, but they ask that you drive carefully.
