NEWS — 830 Times paper edition moving to Fridays Nov. 10

The 830 Times newspaper will be published on Fridays versus Wednesdays beginning Nov. 10.

“We didn’t go out seeking the new publication date but were forced into it when the Kerrville Daily Times announced they’re shutting down their printing operations,” said Joel Langton, 830 Times publisher.

The Kerrville Daily Times published the first issue of The 830 Times in December of 2020 and never missed a beat.

“Due to a number of reasons, Kerrville got to the point where the economics of printing their own product just didn’t make sense anymore,” Langton said. “So, that meant we are out of luck as well.”

Thankfully, New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung is in a position to continue printing The 830 Times, just not Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

Langton asked for the community’s patience as the staff makes the transition. “New Braunfels is about four hours away so it’s going to take us a few weeks to get it all sorted out to a point where we know what to expect,” he said. “In a perfect world, the paper will be here at 6 a.m. on Fridays and we’ll have them on the streets by 10 a.m. However, we’ll have to go through a few distribution cycles as we figure it out. It may be a matter of we get the paper out by 5 p.m. on Friday. There is a lot we will learn. ”

However, Langton pointed to the online edition at www.830Times.com as the way to stay informed, regardless of when the paper comes out.

“The stories almost always appear there first,” he said. “I love me some good newsprint between my fingers but this is another example of our world trending towards digital. The 830 Times team, Karen Gleason, Brian Argabright and myself are just glad this is a bump in the road, something we could overcome.”
