On March 19th, 2025, at 9:33 a.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 800 block of East 9th Street for a report of a bullet that entered the caller’s wall.
Upon arrival contact was made with the caller who told police he was inside his residence two days prior and heard a gunshot then observed the hole in the wall. Police traced the bullet’s path and determined the gunshot originated from a nearby apartment.
The Criminal Investigation Division arrived at the scene and met with several occupants at the suspect’s apartment.
Detectives accessed the interior of the apartment, once inside the residence police located a freshly patched hole consistent with a bullet hole on the wall aligning with the affected apartment. Near the damaged wall, police located a .22 caliber handgun.
The Del Rio Police Department Evidence Division Team arrived and assisted police by utilizing a trajectory rod, aligning the holes of both affected walls. Images were taken and submitted as evidence. Police recovered the handgun, and it was entered as evidence. Police were unable to recover the bullet at the scene.
A suspect was developed and was taken into custody by police. The suspect identified as Juan Manuel Muñoz; 40 years of age was arrested and charged with the offense of Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm
