NEWS — Beware of scam calls pretending to be the Val Verde Sheriff’s Office

We are alerting the public to a recent scam targeting residents in our area. Individuals have reported receiving phone calls from scammers pretending to be from the Val Verde Sheriff’s Deputies.

The callers may assume our Deputy’s identity and try to confirm

generic information based on the name provided. These callers may claim an issue with your records or outstanding fines and ask for personal information or payments over the phone or to head to a specific location.

Please take the following precautions:

1. Do not provide personal or financial information over the phone unless you know the caller’s identity.

2. The Sheriff’s Office will never ask for payments via phone or demand immediate action to avoid arrest.

3. If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and contact The Val Verde Sheriff’s Office at (830) 774-7513.

If you suspect you’ve been a victim of this scam, report it to local authorities immediately. Stay vigilant and protect yourself from fraud.
