The following information was provided by the Del Rio Police Department.
During the month of March 2026, the Del Rio Police Department experienced an increase in motor vehicle burglaries throughout the city. During the investigation, officers recovered evidence at one of the scenes that led to the identification of a suspect. As a result, an arrest warrant was obtained for Jose Alfredo Reyes, 34 years of age.
On April 22, 2026, a Del Rio Police Department officer observed Reyes riding a bicycle in the area of Highway 90 East and Bean Street. Due

to heavy traffic conditions, the officer briefly lost sight of him.
The officer then entered a nearby neighborhood, where a bicycle and a backpack believed to have been recently abandoned by Reyes were located.
Officers conducted a search of the area but were initially unable to locate the suspect. Assistance was requested from the U.S. Border Patrol, including their K-9 unit.
Upon arrival, the Border Patrol K-9 team conducted a search, and Reyes was located a short time later and taken into custody without incident.
Reyes was transported to the police station, where he was interviewed. He was subsequently arrested for theft of property ≥ $750 and < $2,500.
This remains an active investigation involving multiple theft and burglary cases, and additional charges are pending.
The Del Rio Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the U.S. Border Patrol and its K-9 Unit for their continued partnership and assistance in the successful apprehension of this wanted suspect.
