NEWS — BURGLARY OF HABITATION RESULTS IN ARREST FOR STOLEN FIREAMS

On April 1st, 2023, at 9:25 P.M. Del Rio Police Department officers responded to the 100 block of Gaitan St. in reference to a Burglary of a Habitation. Upon arrival officers met with the complainant who reported someone entered his residence and removed a firearm and a laptop without the consent of the owner. Further investigation revealed reddish in color human hair was left behind at the scene by the possible actor.

 On April 5th, 2023, at approximately 3:00 P.M.; police conducted a follow-up investigation at the 600 block of Ave H. Police contacted the complainant via telephone who reported a rifle had also been removed without his consent. Police were able to recover one of the stolen weapons and took the suspect into custody. Suspect was identified as Victoria Alexandra Meador, 24 years of age. A computerized criminal history revealed Meador was a convicted felon and cannot possess any firearms.  During an interview, Meador confessed to committing the theft of the firearms.

Meador was arrested and charged with Theft of a Firearm (2 Counts) and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Meador also had an outstanding TCIC arrest warrant for Motion to Revoke Probation due to a previous Criminal Mischief arrest. Meador was transported to the police station where she was processed for the above charges. She was then transported to GEO Correctional Facility, pending Magistration process
