Del Rio City Council members approved the final plat for a subdivision planned for north Del Rio off Lenora Avenue April 25.
The property from the north subdivision can be used and sold for residential and community purposes. Councilman J.P. Sanchez said approving this subdivision would help fix the lack of areas for infrastructure and increase the workflow of city developers.
Sanchez said after the meeting, “Subdivisions are needed, and we need keep (city infrastructure) going. There are people who still want to build, and people who want new homes, and this is very important to the community: to have lots available to build what they want.”
The preliminary plat for the La Linda Subdivision was approved by the city’s planning and zoning commission on April 14, 2021. Since then, all the utilities and development within the area have been tested to meet city standards. The final plat was approved by the commission on April 13, 2023.
City Planner Janice Pokrant, wrote in an informational memo to the city council, “The construction inspector for the public works and utilities department has inspected the development of the subdivision and has confirmed this development has complied with the mandated development and design standards for the city of Del Rio.”
The La Linda Subdivision Unit 1 will include 20 lots on 5.0014 acres and will be sold for home sites. The proposed development is not located within a FEMA-designated flood-prone area. City Secretary Mari Acosta read the agenda heading for the item, and Mayor Al Arreola called for a motion to approve the resolution. Sanchez made the motion to approve the resolution, and Councilman Jesus Lopez Jr. gave the second.
The city council unanimously voted in favor of the resolution approving the final plat for the subdivision.
