Employees who have served the city for many years were honored during Tuesday’s Del Rio City Council meeting.
City Human Resources Director Mario Garcia told the council, “It gives me great pleasure to introduce some of the individuals we are recognizing this evening.”
Garcia also recognized the city employee award recipient for the months of April and May: Juan Pablo Lopez, a warehouse technician in the purchasing division who has worked for the city more than 20 years.
“This employee’s teammates have said he always goes the extra mile to help out, he multitasks like no other and is always open to help other departments . . . He is truly a team leader and an asset to Team Del Rio,” Garcia said.
Garcia, Mayor Bruno “Ralphy” Lozano and Acting City Manager John Sheedy then presented length of service awards to the following:
- Assistant Del Rio Fire Department Chief Pablo Padilla – 43 years of service
- Del Rio Fire Department Lt. Delbert C. “Cliff” Hill – 31 years
- International Bridge Toll Collector Crew Leader Rebecca Acosta – 20 years (not present)
- Civic Center Head Custodian Ruben Veliz – 19 years (not present)
- Nutrition Division Head Cook Soledad Gutierrez – 18 years (not present)
- Parks and Recreation Department Groundskeeper Javier Torres – 16 years (not present)
- Del Rio Fire Department Assistant Chief Jose De Luna – 16 years
- Del Rio Fire Department Lt. Christopher Molano – 14 years
- Del Rio Fire Department Rescue Officer Robert Harrison – 14 years (not present)
- Water Production Plant Operator Carlos Canales – 14 years (not present)
