Residents of Del Rio and Val Verde County who would like to receive a COVID-19 vaccine are invited to register for a clinic to be held Wednesday at the Del Rio Civic Center.

Val Verde County Judge Lewis G. Owens Jr. announced today the city and county have received 2,000 doses of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson Co. vaccine. Owens said the vaccines would be distributed between 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the civic center, 1915 Veterans Blvd.

The vaccine event is open to any resident 16 years of age or older.

Owens asked anyone who would like to receive the vaccine to go to the county’s web site at valverdecounty.texas.gov or the city’s web site at cityofdelrio.com to register. Owens said there is a link available on both sites for interested persons to register.

Owens said if residents have problems registering online or are unable to do so, they should show up at the civic center about 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Owens said residents who would like to receive the vaccine don’t have to register in advance, but noted registering in advance makes the process faster.
