NEWS — Del Rio High School students receive CCMA certifications

Fourteen students from the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program at Del Rio High School have received their Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA). This dual credit program in collaboration with Southwest Texas Junior College awards seven college credit hours upon completion of the course.

As a certified clinical medical assistant, these students have gained experience in the following areas to include: pharmacology, nutrition, psychology, anatomy/physiology, clinical patient care, administrative assisting, customer service and medical law

The students include Marlene Alcorta, Emily Castro, Clarisa Garcia-Trochez, Guadalupe Gomez, Jocelyn Martinez, Reyna Palencia, Jaleen Perez, Taylor Polanco, Kassandra Rivera, Victor Rocha, Oscar Tamez, Emily Trevino, Stephanie Zapata and Mia Arredondo. Students are under the instruction of CTE Health Science instructor, Velma Perez BSN, RN.
