A Del Rio man has been arrested and charged with indecency with a child after allegedly inappropriately touching a nine-year-old girl more than a dozen times, police said.
Arrested was Christopher Robert Kuechmann, 74, a resident of an apartment building in the 200 block of Space Boulevard. Kuechmann has been charged with the offense of indecency with a child, a second-degree felony, according to an arrest report released by the Del Rio Police Department on Friday.
In an affidavit filed in the case and obtained by the 830 Times, DRPD Detective Oscar Gonzalez writes police were made aware of the allegations against Keuchmann Feb. 13 when DRPD Officer Vicente Hernandez was dispatched to a local elementary school “for a report of a sexual assault of a child.”
Hernandez reported when he arrived at the school, he spoke with a counselor who told him a nine-year-old female student “had made an outcry of a male subject. . . who had touched her.”
Hernandez interviewed the girl’s father, then the girl, who claimed she had been inappropriately touched at least 13 times over the past three years. The girl also told Hernandez the man had threatened her by telling her he had a gun.
Gonzalez in his affidavit wrote a more formal forensic interview was conducted with the girl, during which she repeated her previous allegations.
Gonzalez wrote he obtained a search warrant for Kuechmann’s apartment and subsequently interviewed Kuechmann regarding the girl’s allegations.
Gonzalez obtained a warrant for Keuchmann’s arrest on May 10 and took Kuechmann into custody at Kuechmann’s apartment on the same day.
Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Pat Cole magistrated Kuechmann and has set bail in the case at $10,000.
