Bull riding is coming to downtown Del Rio during the Jericho’s Bull Bash event at 300 S. Main St. starting at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The free event is being put together by Jericho’s Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization based in Del Rio, and it will feature bull riding performances, music and food vendors.
A bull riding arena with bleachers and enclosures for the bulls will be set up at the intersection of South Main Street and Broadway Street, and both streets will be closed off during the evening.
Nelson Pou, president of Jericho’s Foundation Inc., said Jericho’s Bull Bash is the organization’s first event. He also said the organization is focused on bringing entertainment to the Del Rio community.
“Not only bull riding, but (Jericho’s Foundation) will also do live music events, car meets; whatever we decide to do is to benefit the community,” Pou said.
Pou said the organization’s mission is to help veterans in the local community. The group’s official Facebook page mentions the organization’s proceeds will go towards helping local veterans and cancer patients in Del Rio.
The event will have bull riding and goat roping performances for audiences to watch. Fifteen bull riders will be a part of the event, with two riders based in Del Rio and the others traveling from Fort Worth, San Antonio and San Angelo.
A variety of vendors will be attending the event and will be selling barbecue, Mexican food and other snacks and beverages, and a bouncy castle will be set up for kids to play in.
Live music will also be provided with performances by Dragonfly, a cover band based in San Antonio, and they will be performing from 9:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.
