Del Rio Police Department press release
On January 27, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to the area of East 2nd Street and Avenue H to assist a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper.
Officers learned the Trooper had been in the area of Tractor Supply Co. when an employee reported a male suspect had stolen multiple items from the business. The suspect was observed running from the store, entering a gray pickup truck, and leaving the area.
The Trooper located the vehicle and conducted an investigatory stop, detaining the suspect identified as David Anthony Bejerano, 43, of Del Rio. Bejerano was found in possession of the stolen merchandise.
Police searched the vehicle and located a syringe containing a liquid substance believed to be methamphetamine. Bejerano was arrested for
Theft of Property and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The substance was later tested and confirmed positive for methamphetamine. The stolen property, valued at approximately $300, was recovered and returned to the business.
A criminal history check revealed Bejerano had prior theft convictions, which enhanced the theft charge to a felony offense.
Bejerano was charged with Theft of Property < $2,500 with Two or More Previous Convictions and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1-B ≥1g <4g. He was transported to the police station for processing and later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility pending magistration.
