City of Del Rio Police Department
On August 30, 2025, at approximately 1:18 a.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 700 block of East Bowie
Street regarding a vehicle collision involving a residence.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver, identified as 26-year-old Gabriela Elizabeth Ortiz.
Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Ortiz’s breath and person.
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, during which Ortiz displayed multiple signs of intoxication.
Ortiz was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. A breath sample was obtained, revealing a blood alcohol concentration greater than 0.15. Due to the elevated results, her charge was enhanced to Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC ≥ 0.15.
Ortiz was transported to the Del Rio Police Department for processing and later released to the custody of GEO Correctional Facility.
