The following reports on felony arrests made during April 2025 were released recently by the Del Rio Police Department:
The 830 Times reminds readers that all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and that a police report, an arrest or an indictment are not proof of guilt.
• Juan Hernandez, 40, a resident of the 200 block of Grissom Drive, was arrested at 11:58 a.m. on April 4, at 704 E. Viesca St., and charged with the offense of burglary of a building, a state jail felony. Police reported officers were dispatched to 701 E. Viesca St. at 6:02 a.m. on April 2 “regarding a burglary that had occurred minutes prior.” Officers at the scene noted they found the front door of the residence unsecured when they arrived. They reported they entered and cleared the residence.
• Abel Rene Flores, 41, a resident of the 600 block of W. Garza St., was arrested at an unspecified time on April 7, at an unspecified location, and charged with the offense of sexual assault, a second-degree felony. Police reported officers were dispatched to Hogan Park at 10:01 p.m. on April 6 “for a report of a male attempting to assault a female with a golf club.” Officers spoke to the woman, who also “made an outcry of a recent sexual assault.”
• Antonio Gutierrez, 17, a resident of the 200 block of Rowland Drive, was arrested at an unspecified time on April 8, at 209 Rowland Drive, and charged with the offenses of abandoning/endangering a child, a second-degree felony; assault on a public servant, a third-degree felony; assault causing bodily injury, evading arrest or detention and resisting arrest, search or transportation, all Class A misdemeanors. Police reported Gutierrez was arrested after police were dispatched to a disturbance at 209 Rowland Drive at 7:43 p.m. on April 8.
• Anthony Zapata Barboza, 25, who is listed as homeless, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. on April 9 at 253 FM 2523, and charged with the offense of theft of property, greater than or equal to $2,500, less than $30,000, a state jail felony. Police reported they were approached by the complainant at the Stripes convenience store, 1300 E. Gibbs St., at 11:56 a.m. on April 3. The complainant told officers that he “had left his 2002 gray Chevrolet Silverado parked with the engine running while he went inside Stripes.” The complainant told police when he exited the store, the truck was gone.
• Ajale Janece Timmermann, 22, a resident of the 100 block of Fletcher Drive, was arrested at 1:36 p.m. on April 13, at 105 Fletcher Drive, and charged with the offenses of credit/debit card abuse, a state jail felony; and of criminal mischief, greater than or equal to $750, less than $2,500; a Class A misdemeanor. Police reported officers were dispatched to 105 Fletcher Drive at 11:21 a.m. on April 13 for a disturbance. The caller told police “his girlfriend broke his cell phone and used his brother’s credit card without his permission.” Police reported the caller was also charged with assault causing bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor, “due to forcefully attempting to remove meth from his girlfriend’s mouth.”
• Eduardo Daniel Salas, 17, a resident of the 600 block of Gregory Drive, was arrested at 12:02 a.m. on April 14 at 200 E. Virginia St., and charged with the offense of evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, a third-degree felony. Police reported an officer patrolling the 200 block of East Virginia Street at 11:29 p.m. on April 13 “observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.” The officer turned on the lights and siren of the patrol unit to initiate a traffic stop. The officer reported the vehicle continued to accelerate away and during the pursuit, its lights were turned off as it continued traveling along the roadway. The vehicle came to a stop when it reached the end of the road, and the officer reported he conducted a felony stop, removed the male driver from the vehicle and arrested him.
• Roberto Estrada, 41, a resident of the 200 block of Cordelia Street, was arrested at an unspecified time on April 15, at 227 Cordelia St., and charged with the offense of criminal mischief, greater than or equal to $2,500, less than $30,000, a state jail felony.
Police reported officers were dispatched to 117 E. Garfield St. at 6:15 p.m. on April 15 after police received a report of a man “who appeared to be trying to break into the building.” When officers arrived, they found a man matching the description given by the caller outside the building. The man, later identified as Estrada, “admitted to breaking the windows with a pickaxe that was laying on the ground.” Damages to the building were estimated at $10,000, and Estrada was taken into custody.
• Ruben Santana Ochoa, 34, a resident of the 100 block of Aduna St., was arrested at 5:37 p.m. on April 16, at 105 Aduna St., and charged with the offense of arson, a second-degree felony. Police reported officers and Del Rio Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to a house fire on Aduna Street at 4:07 p.m. on April 16. They determined there were no occupants inside the house. Officers reported, “The homeowner arrived on scene, and the homeowner’s son then stated he purposely set the house on fire, starting a disturbance between family members on-scene.” Officers reported they separated the parties and “detained the son for arson.”
• Jorge Bustillos, 19, a resident of the 100 block of La Grande Street, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. on April 16, at 200 Quail Creek Drive, and charged with the offenses of evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, a third-degree felony; of evading arrest/detention, a Class A misdemeanor; and of reckless driving, a Class B misdemeanor. Police reported officers observed a vehicle traveling north in the 3700 block of Veterans Boulevard at 7:55 p.m. on April 16. Officers reported the vehicle failed to yield to a marked unit with emergency lights and siren on, and the officer reported he lost sight of the vehicle. The officer reported the vehicle was later located unoccupied in the 200 block of Quail Creek Drive, and a person matching the description of the driver was located at the walking trail off Agarita Drive and taken into custody.
• Gia Deleon, 24, a resident of the 400 block of West Bean Street, was arrested at an unspecified time on April 16, at an unspecified location, and charged with the offense of injury to a child, a third-degree felony. Police reported officers were dispatched to 400 E. Bean St. at 7:02 p.m. on April 16 after receiving a report about a woman assaulting a child, and Deleon was subsequently arrested.
• Miguel Eloy Justin Reyna, 23, a resident of an apartment in the 1400 block of Avenue D, was arrested at an unspecified time on April 27 at 1400 Ave. D, rear; and charged with the offenses of abandoning/endangering a child, a second-degree felony; and of assault family violence/household/family member, a third-degree felony. Police reported they were dispatched to 1400 Ave. D at 3:33 p.m. on April 27 after receiving a report from a woman who said her daughter had been assaulted by a man. Officers spoke to the alleged victim when they arrived, and she claimed she had been “grabbed by the neck.” The woman also told police “that when she was grabbed, she was unable to breathe and also had her head banged against the front door while she was holding an infant.”
• Pablo Rodriguez, 37, a resident of the 300 block of East Viesca Street, was arrested at 2:50 p.m. on April 29, at an unspecified location, and charged with the offense of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state jail felony. Police reported they received a walk-in report at 8:38 a.m. on April 25 from a woman who alleged a man she knew, later identified as Rodriguez, “had taken possession of her vehicle.” The woman told police the incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. in the 2300 block of North Main Street.
• Samuel Lumbreras, 34, a resident of an apartment in the 800 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested at 1:01 a.m. on April 29 at 801 East Ninth St. and charged with the offense of aggravated assault dating/family/household member, a first-degree felony. Police reported an officer was waved down at the intersection of Avenue J and East Eighth Street at 10:43 p.m. on April 28 by a woman who wanted to report “an assault that had just occurred.” Officers canvassed the area and found the man, who was reportedly in a relationship with the woman’s daughter, and took him into custody.
