Voters who did not cast early ballots in the elections to seat city council members, public school board trustees, elected hospital board directors and a Comstock bond election will have a chance to vote on Saturday.
Saturday, May 4, is Election Day for three seats on the Del Rio City Council, three seats on the San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees, two seats on the Val Verde Regional Medical Center Board of Directors and a bond election with two propositions for the Comstock Independent School District.
There will be five polling locations throughout the county where voters may cast their ballots on Saturday.
Those locations, released by Val Verde County Clerk Teresa Esther Chapoy, who is administering the joint elections, are as follows:
- Voters in Val Verde County voting precincts 10, 11, 12 and 13/City voting districts 10A, 11, 12, 21 and 22B will vote at the Joe Ramos Facility, 1105 W. De La Rosa St.
- Voters in Val Verde County voting precincts 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24/City voting districts 22A, 30A and 31 will vote at the Del Rio Civic Center, 1915 Veterans Blvd.
- Voters in Val Verde County voting precincts 30, 31 and 33/City voting districts 10B, 30B and 10B will vote at the Northside Baptist Church, 1100 Amistad Blvd.
- Voters in Val Verde County voting precincts 32, 42, and 43/No city districts will vote at the Comstock Community Center, 68 Langtry St., Comstock, Texas.
- Voters in Val Verde County voting precincts 40 and 41/City voting districts 10B, 30B and 40 will vote at the SFDRCISD Student Performance Center and Administration Building, 315 Griner St.
Voters’ county voting precinct and city voting district (marked as “SMCity”) numbers can be found on the voter registration certificate cards each registered voter in the county should have received by mail earlier this year.
Bring the card and a photo ID like a Texas driver license along when you vote. If you are still unsure about which county voting precinct/city voting district you should be in, speak to one of the clerks at any of the polling locations. If you are in the wrong location, they will direct you to the correct location.
Not all races will appear on all ballots. For instance, only registered voters living inside the city limits can cast ballots for the city council election, and only voters living in each school district can vote in their particular school district’s elections.
If you have any questions about your ballot or the races/candidates appearing on it, immediately ask for help from one of the clerks at the polling location. You must ask your questions before you cast your ballot. At that time, clerks may be able to remedy the situation. If you wait until after you have cast your ballot, nothing can be changed.
