City of Del Rio Police Department press release
On March 29th, 2025, at 11:50 p.m. the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 600 block of W. Cortinas Street in reference to a disturbance in progress. Police were notified a female suspect at the scene identified as Vanessa E. Salinas struck a household member with a rock.
Upon arrival, police detained Salinas who was acting disruptive. Police met with the victim who reported being stuck by Salinas in the head with a large rock, causing pain and injury to the affected area.
Police photographed the injuries on the victim’s head consistent with the allegations; police also located the rock that was utilized in the assault.
Salinas was arrested and transported to the Del Rio Police Department for booking and processing. Police learned the victim was 70 years of age, enhancing the assault charges to a felony offense.
Vanessa E. Salinas was arrested with the offense of Injury to Child/Elderly/Disabled Persons. She was later released into custody of GEO Correctional Facility
