In July 2025, Field Diagnostics held a grand opening at 401 W. Cantu Road, Suite F. Less than 14 months later, the company held a second grand opening at 1900 N. Bedell Ave., Suite B, after outgrowing its original Del Rio space.

Owners Jose and Erica Campos spent about a year growing the business at the Cantu Road location until they had outgrown the location.

There are several benefits to the new location, besides a bit more space, Jose said. “We wanted to be more visible and felt like Bedell was the perfect place for our business. Among the other medical businesses in town,” he said.

Del Rio Chamber of Commerce President Abram Rodriguez, who also works in marketing and public relations for Border Federal Credit Union, said it seemed like only yesterday that the chamber was cutting the ribbon at the previous location.

“It seems like we were just cutting the ribbon on your Cantu location,” Rodriguez said during the ceremony. “The fact you’ve grown so fast is due to Jose and Erica’s hard work here, and we, the chamber, are honored to be with you to celebrate this day!”

Jose said the couple approached the expansion with a clear plan.

“We mapped everything out specific to our needs,” Jose said. “We set everything up for our new services, our existing services and our future services.”

While the Del Rio operation has flourished, Field Diagnostics has also added a Uvalde location during the past year, and Jose said that location is thriving as well.

Jose declined to discuss the specifics of the company’s future plans. However, continued regional growth and additional services appear likely, even if he is keeping those details close to the vest for now.

Field Diagnostics’ fastest-growing areas include laboratory collection services, nurse-led aesthetic treatments, drug testing and CPR certification.

Its laboratory collection operation works with multiple reference laboratories, accepts physicians’ orders and insurance and offers direct-access testing for patients who prefer to pay out of pocket. That flexibility allows Field Diagnostics to serve patients, healthcare providers, employers and others seeking convenient access to laboratory work.

The company also offers Department of Transportation and non-DOT drug testing, including rapid testing for employment or personal needs.

Its expanding aesthetic and wellness operation offers Botox, IV hydration, wellness injections, peptides and other treatments.

Field Diagnostics also provides CPR certification for healthcare workers and students preparing to enter healthcare training programs.

Although those areas are experiencing the quickest growth, the company’s full menu of services is extensive.

Diagnostic laboratory services include:

  • Routine laboratory testing
  • Specialty laboratory kits
  • Personal drug testing
  • Employment drug testing
  • Sexually transmitted disease screenings
  • DNA testing

Wellness services include:

  • IV hydration
  • Wellness injections
  • Weight-loss injections
  • Natural supplements
  • Aesthetic treatments

Training and support services include:

  • Fingerprinting
  • CPR training
  • Phlebotomy training

The business is deeply personal for the Camposes, who are both trained medical professionals. After spending 20 years in San Antonio and unsuccessfully encouraging other companies to expand into Del Rio, Jose decided to build the type of operation he believed his hometown needed.

“I’m just happy to show people it can be done here, in my hometown,” Jose said.
