Del Rio firefighters and police and other first responders raced to the Burger King on the city’s north side Monday evening after a fire was reported there.

“It was a grease fire, and it was contained to the ventilation system. The crews are still on site putting out hot spots, but the fire is out,” Del Rio Fire Department Assistant Chief Joey De Luna said in a voicemail report on the incident.

Firefighters and an emergency medical services crew from Val Verde Memorial Hospital were dispatched to Burger King, 2204 Veterans Blvd., about 7 p.m. Monday.

De Luna said there were no reports of any injuries to staff or patrons.

He said the city’s health department had been advised of the fire.

Del Rio police officers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were on scene to assist with traffic control.
