Four people have filed for a place on this year’s school board election ballot.
Filing began for the San Felipe Del Rio CISD’s Board of Trustees on Jan. 19. As of this week, three incumbents and one challenger have filed to be on the ballot for the May 7 election.
Incumbent Ken Smith has filed to retain his Place I seat. Smith, who lists his occupation as general manager at Howmet Aerospace, is currently in his second term as a member of the board of trustees.
Linda Guanajuato-Webb has filed to retain her Place III seat. Guanajuato-Webb, who lists her occupation as a retired educator, is currently the board of trustees’ vice-president. She is currently in her first term as a member of the board of trustees.
Raymond P. Meza has filed to retain his Place IV seat. Meza, who lists his occupation as owner/operator of Limo City, currently serves as the board’s president. He is currently in his third term as a member of the board of trustees.
Hugo T. Sanchez has filed for the Place V seat on the board currently held by Fred Contreras. Sanchez lists his occupation as a distribution operations tech. Contreras, who has not filed for re-election as of this week, is in his first term as a member of the board.
At this time, all of the candidates are unopposed.
The last day to file for a place on the ballot is Friday, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m.
According to the school district, persons interested in becoming a candidate for the San Felipe Del Rio CISD School Board may pick up a packet in the Superintendent’s office in the SFDRCISD Student Performance and Administration Building located at 315 Griner St., or may download an application electronically from https://www.sfdr-cisd.org/board-of-trustees/2022-school-board-election/
The candidate’s packet contains instructions, an application, and forms required for filing.
