Del Rio Police Department press release
On January 16, 2026, at approximately 4:53 p.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 100 block of Lima Street in reference to a disturbance in progress.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a female at the scene had damaged a window of a vehicle. The complainant reported the suspect became upset after she was not allowed to use the vehicle. Officers determined the suspect first attempted to break the window with a rock, which was unsuccessful. She then struck the window with her hand, causing it to shatter.
Officers made contact with the suspect, who confirmed the events as reported by the complainant. When officers informed the suspect she was under arrest for criminal mischief, she attempted to pull away and failed to comply with lawful commands. The suspect physically resisted officers during the arrest.
The female was identified as Precious Darlene Garcia, 17 years of age. She was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest, Search, and Transportation.
Garcia was transported to the police station for processing and was later released to the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility.
