Texas governor candidate Beto O’Rourke is scheduled to be in Del Rio Saturday.
The campaign event is set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Doc Holliday’s, 202 E. Gibbs St., Ramiro Guzman, Val Verde County Democratic Party secretary said today.
O’Rourke is the Democratic Party nominee for Texas governor, and he will attempt to wrest the seat from the incumbent Republican, Greg Abbott, in the November General Election.
The Del Rio stop is part of O’Rourke’s “49-day, more than 5.600 mile Drive for Texas that will take him back to every part of the state this summer,” according to a description of the event.
According to the U.S. News & World Report, O’Rourke paused his campaign to return to El Paso last week to receive treatment for an unspecified illness, leading to speculation that he might cancel the Del Rio event.
“The news from his campaign is that he is back on the road and should be here for Saturday’s event,” Guzman told the 830 Times today.
The campaign event is free and open to the public.
