The International Good Neighbor Council of Del Rio will host its 5th Annual Wine & Cheese Scholarship Fundraiser event on Friday.

The event will be held at the Enchanted Event Space, 4934 U.S. Highway 90 West, and persons can purchase tickets by contacting Andrew Scarbo, the current IGNC president, or buying them at the door.

General admission is a $35 donation, and VIP tables with guaranteed seating can be purchased starting at $500 (10 seats per table).

The event is part of IGNC’s Fiesta de Amistad events, most of which take place in October.

Scarbo said the Wine & Cheese event raises money for scholarships given out every year for graduating seniors. He said the event is “fun and heavily attended every year.”

“We want to let the community know that they are donating not just to have a good time, but to give back to the community; it is a good way to show support for the children of our community,” Scarbo said.

Scarbo said the theme of this year’s fundraiser is “A Taste of France,” and four wines from France, donated by SoJo Cellar, will be available to be sampled.

The event will also have French appetizers and a sixteen-foot meat-and-cheese charcuterie table.

A variety of cheese brought over from Mexico will be available for people to sample, and there will be a make-your-own-crepes station, with options for people to make unique dishes.

Live music will be provided by local band Calle 4, featuring Juan “The Saxx Man” Nanez.

A live auction will be held for pieces of art made by Del Rio High School students, who drew pictures celebrating the friendship between Mexico and the United States. The art was first
revealed at the Fiesta de Amistad kick-off ceremony in October 2024.
