The SFDRCISD released two press releases today after an individual was found with an automatic rifle magazine entering the campus. Below are excerpts from the releases.

SFDRCISD Police Department Apprehends Individual Attempting Unauthorized Entry onto Del Rio High School Campus
The SFDRCISD Police Department, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies apprehended a male suspect on September 27, 2023 who was attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Del Rio High School (DRHS) campus. The incident occurred during school hours when the campus was fully operational.
The individual, who is believed to be a possible SWTJC (Southwest Texas Junior College) student, was intercepted by vigilant officers as he attempted to breach the perimeter fence of the DRHS campus. Upon conducting a search of the suspect, officers discovered that he was in possession of a loaded AR magazine. However, it is important to note that the suspect was not in possession of the weapon itself.

Del Rio High School Campus Declared Safe by Local Law Enforcement
The San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District is pleased to announce that the Del Rio High School (DRHS) campus has been cleared by local law enforcement agencies and is now deemed safe. Following a thorough sweep of the premises, no weapons or threats were found on the school grounds.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated officers from various law enforcement agencies who swiftly responded to our call for assistance. Their professionalism, expertise, and commitment to ensuring the safety of our students, faculty, and staff have been instrumental in resolving this situation.
As a result of the diligent efforts of law enforcement and the absence of any credible threat, students at Del Rio High School have resumed their normal schedules. The well-being and education of our students remain our top priorities, and we are pleased to report that they have returned to their regular academic routines without disruption.
The SFDRCISD Police Department will continue to work closely with local authorities to investigate the incident further and determine the motives behind the individual’s actions. We remain committed to maintaining a secure and supportive environment for our school community.
