Thursday night, Val Verde County Judge Lewis H. Owens confirmed that Broke Mill R.V. Park has been sold and will be used by a contingent of Texas National Guard members.
Rumors have swirled since Tuesday the facility has been sold but little solid data has been confirmed until the Judge’s Facebook video.
Sources in Del Rio have said it will house up to 1,200 Texas National Guard members.
However, the facility will be owned by a contractor and rented to the Texas National Guard.
According to The Del Rio Business Bulletin, the facility is, “situated on 43.64 acres, consists of 76 RV hookups, 4 cabins, a large front office building, a one bedroom cabin owner/manager living quarters, swimming pool, event center, laundry facility with bathrooms, a fitness center, and a dog park.”
Three times in the 8-minute video Thursday, Owens said that the facility will not be used for immigrants, but only for Texas National Guard members.
The 830 Times has had queries to the Texas Governor’s office since Tuesday and has received minimal responses. We will update this as solid information becomes available.
