Press release from the Del Rio Police Department
On Aug. 29, 2026, at approximately 3:21 a.m., officers with the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 700 block of W. 2nd Street for a 911 call regarding a reported stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers located three male victims, ranging in age from 17 to 18 years old, who had sustained multiple stab wounds to various areas of their bodies, including the face and head. All three victims were transported to Val Verde Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.
A vehicle believed to have been used by the suspects was found abandoned at the scene; however, the suspects were not initially located.
Del Rio Police Department detectives responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. During the investigation, detectives interviewed the victims, who positively identified the suspects.
Investigators learned that prior to the physical altercation, the suspects had allegedly been driving past the residence at a high rate of speed while yelling profanities. The driver attempted to strike one of the victims with the vehicle but was unsuccessful. During a second alleged attempt, the driver struck a fence, disabling the vehicle at the scene. A physical altercation ensued between the parties in which knives were introduced.
A short time later, officers located one of the identified suspects accompanied by his girlfriend near the area of 12th Street and Avenue B. Both individuals, a 16-year-old male and a 16-year-old female, were taken into custody.
The 16-year-old male was charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The 16-year-old female was charged with Failure to Report a Felony.
Officers later responded to Val Verde Regional Medical Center after another male juvenile arrived at the facility with lacerations to his hands. The juvenile was identified as a second suspect in the investigation. After receiving medical treatment, he was taken into custody and charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional criminal charges may be considered as the investigation progresses.
